Terms of Engagement
Last updated: April 17, 2026

The short version
- ✓Book a service, pay, we're off to the races.
- ✓Wedding refunds work on a sliding scale. Divorce doc prep is non-refundable once I start (which is immediately).
- ✓I'm not a law firm. I don't give legal advice. Nothing on this site creates an attorney-client relationship.
- ✓Be decent to me and anyone I bring. I'll leave and keep your money if you're not.
Who you're dealing with
Tied & Untied is a DBA of DeNovo Legal Services, LLC, a Florida limited liability company. These terms cover everything you book through tieduntied.com. By booking a service or paying an invoice, you agree to what's below.
Wedding officiating
Booking & payment
Your booking is confirmed when payment clears. Until then, the date is not held. Florida marriage license fees ($61 to $93.50) are paid by you directly to the county clerk and are not included in my package price.
If YOU cancel
- ✓30+ days before ceremony: full refund.
- ✓14 to 29 days before: 50% refund.
- ✓Less than 14 days before: no refund.
- ✓Rush bookings (7 days or less): non-refundable, but rescheduleable once within 90 days at no extra charge.
- ✓Any expenses already incurred on your behalf (costumes, props, travel, accommodations, paid vendors) are non-refundable regardless of when you cancel. These are billed at cost and itemized on request.
If I cancel
If I have to cancel (illness, emergency, other force majeure), you get a full refund or a reschedule at no charge, your choice. My total liability to you will never exceed the amount you've paid me.
Weather
Hurricane, lightning within 10 miles, or any conditions I consider genuinely unsafe: automatic reschedule within 90 days at no re-fee. I make the safety call, and my call is final.
Late arrival or no-show
You get a 30-minute grace period from your scheduled start time. If I haven't arrived at the venue yet and you cancel within that window, the cancellation terms above apply. If I've already arrived at the scheduled time, no refund regardless of whether the ceremony happens.
When I might refuse to officiate
I reserve the right to refuse to officiate, terminate services, or leave a ceremony (with no refund beyond unused time) if I observe:
- ×Content that advocates violence or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or disability.
- ×Evidence of coercion, duress, or either party being pressured into the marriage.
- ×Intoxication of either party to the point of incapacity to consent.
- ×Threats, harassment, or abusive behavior toward me or anyone present.
- ×Content promoting hate groups or their symbols.
Before I pull the plug, I'll give you a chance to address the issue where it's reasonable to do so.
Divorce document preparation
What I do
I prepare family law forms based on the information you provide me. I don't choose your legal strategy or represent you in court or in front of a judge.
I am not your attorney and Tied & Untied is not a law firm. Nothing should be construed as legal advice.
Payment & refunds
Document preparation begins immediately upon payment and is typically complete within 12 hours (always within 72 hours). Because the work starts right away, document prep fees are non-refundable and bookings are non-cancellable.
The documents I prepare belong to you whether or not you choose to file them.
Your responsibilities
You're responsible for giving me accurate, complete information. I prepare divorce documents based on what you tell me. If the information is wrong or incomplete and the court rejects the filing, I'll correct the forms based on the court's feedback at no extra cost, but I can't refund the original fee.
Court filing fees are separate
The county clerk charges a filing fee ($408+ in Florida). Process servers, if needed, charge around $40 to $75. Those go directly to the court and the server, not to me.
Divorce strategy session
What you get
One hour of my time, video or in-person. A personalized assessment, your options laid out, a written checklist and budget framework. Plus a $100 credit toward any other divorce product you book afterward (see Credits below).
Refunds
Full refund if you cancel 24+ hours before the session. No refund for cancellations less than 24 hours out or after the session has occurred.
Divorce concierge
Scope
Concierge services are non-legal coordination. I manage deadlines, referrals, document organization, and communication among the professionals on your team (attorney, therapist, financial analyst). I don't give legal advice, represent you, or make decisions for you.
Refund of unused hours
Unused hours are refunded at $125/hour within 30 days after the entry of Final Judgment in your divorce matter, upon written request. If you become unreachable for 90 or more consecutive days, or otherwise abandon the engagement, any remaining hours are forfeited.
Credits & bundle discounts
- ✓Credits (including the $100 strategy session credit and per-service bundle discounts) expire 60 days after issue unless noted otherwise at time of purchase.
- ✓Credits are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
- ✓One credit may be applied per service category (one per wedding booking, one per divorce booking, etc.).
- ✓Credits stack with other discounts unless the specific promotion says otherwise.
- ✓If you cancel an item from a bundle, the bundle discount tied to that item is forfeited. Any refund is calculated after restoring the remaining service(s) to their standard (non-bundled) price. Example: Strategy Session ($199) + Concierge ($625) with a $100 bundle discount = $724 paid. If you cancel the Strategy Session with a full refund due, the refund is $99 ($199 minus the $100 bundle discount), and the Concierge remains at its full $625 price.
The Combo Deal credit
The Combo Deal is a $1 add-on available at wedding and divorce checkout. In exchange, you receive a $100 credit redeemable on the opposite service line. The following terms apply and override the general Credits rules above where they conflict.
- ✓Credit issuance. The credit code is emailed to you right after your $1 add-on purchase so you don’t lose it. It cannot be redeemed, however, until your primary service is complete (for weddings, the ceremony date; for divorce services, typically 3 days after purchase).
- ✓Opposite-service-only. Wedding buyers can redeem the credit only on divorce services (strategy session, concierge, or doc prep). Divorce buyers can redeem the credit only on wedding services (any package or add-on).
- ✓Redemption pricing. The credit applies $100 off the service price at the time of redemption, not at the time of Combo Deal purchase.
- ✓No expiration. The credit does not expire as long as Tied & Untied is actively operating. This overrides the 60-day expiration on other credits.
- ✓Business closure. If Tied & Untied ceases operations before you redeem, the $1 add-on fee is refunded to the original payment method. No promises are made about the credit being honored by any third-party provider.
- ✓Non-transferable.The credit is tied to the purchasing buyer’s account and cannot be gifted, sold, or transferred.
- ✓Stacking. The Combo Deal credit stacks with the existing $100-off-per-additional-service bundle discount on the divorce side and with any other standard service-specific discounts, unless a specific promotion says otherwise.
- ✓Not retroactive. The Combo Deal must be added at checkout on the qualifying purchase. It cannot be added to a purchase after the fact.
- ✓$1 add-on fee. The $1 is non-refundable except in the business-closure scenario above.
General terms
Limitation of liability
My total liability to you for any and all claims arising from our engagement will never exceed the amount you have paid me for the specific service giving rise to the claim. I am not liable for incidental, consequential, or indirect damages (lost venue deposits, third-party vendor failures, missed connecting flights, and similar).
Governing law & venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute that can't be resolved by conversation will be filed in the state courts of Santa Rosa County, Florida, and we both consent to that venue.
Changes to these terms
If I update these terms in a material way, I'll post the new version here with a new “last updated” date, and active clients get an email heads-up. Continued use of the service after updates means you accept them.
Entire agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Oasis and any service-specific forms you sign (like the Disclosure from Nonlawyer for divorce cases or The Hush Package NDA for weddings), are the entire agreement between us.
Severability
If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest of the terms stay in effect.
